Wireless LAN Site Certification
Service Overview
- Validate wireless networks for a specific type of application (e.g., voice or Real Time Location Services-RTLS)
- Critical in determining that a WLAN is 'voice ready' prior to deploying wireless phones or before implementing RTLS
- Ensures the network is designed to the requirements for a specific type of application (e.g., voice or RTLS)
- For Wireless Voice perform the following tests after access points and phones have been configured:
- Association, Authentication, and Registration
- Roaming
- Load Testing
- Voice quality
- Provide an updated set of recommendations for new wireless requirements or changed environmental conditions
- Complete documentation
- Once the site survey results have been certified, they qualify for our 12-month guarantee
Just because a wireless infrastructure has been set up and seems to be performing adequately in support of one application (e.g., data) doesn’t mean that the infrastructure is automatically scalable and can accommodate new requirements.
A WLAN Site Certification is critical prior to adding new wireless clients (e.g., wireless phones, RTLS, IV pumps) in your environment. For example, wireless voice is much more sensitive to the effects of packet delay and latency than wireless data. If your network is not certified for wireless voice prior to implementation you could experience poor voice quality. Likewise, proper access point placement and density is critical in location tracking performance. It must be verified that the asset tags are being seen by at least three access points and at the manufacturer’s recommended RSSI cutoff value or better.
If you’re implementing new wireless technology, call on AirSpeed Wireless Networks for our guaranteed WLAN Site Certification.
